Skyportal overview¶
Functionnalities of Skyportal¶
SkyPortal enables research teams to:
- Ingest and manage millions of astronomical alerts per night from multiple discovery streams. The alerts are defined as changements into the sky and may refer to various types of sources : variable stars, AGN, explosive events
- Scan and classify alerts and transient candidates efficiently
- Coordinate follow-up observations across telescope networks on a specific source or on a not well localized event in the sky (GRB, Neutrinos, GWs)
- Collaborate through groups with multiple collaborations, comments, and real-time notifications
- Integrate with external services like the Transient Name Server (TNS) and GCN notices
- Provide an API to interact with the service (as download info)
About Skyportal/ICARE¶
ICARE is has been originally developped for GRANDMA and is a customized deployment of SkyPortal, featuring a tailored "layer" of frontend and backend extensions specifically. It aims to target GRANDMA's observational workflow and collaboration needs.
ICARE functionnalities can be extended to ACME's community needs
